Currently living in Pleasant Grove but born in Glendale, California, Meli Calkins has been painting for the past 55 plus years. Meli’s mother was a commercial artist and taught Meli how to observe what she saw in her world and would interpret it with drawings and paintings on paper and canvas. While pursuing a bachelor’s and master’s degree in environmental at California State University, Northridge, Meli was able to squeeze a few fine art classes in her busy schedule raising a family, working in the aerospace industry and participating in the local art scene in Southern California. Meli loves to interpret the landscapes around her. While most of her paintings are of landscapes and seascapes, she also enjoys creating paintings with horses, koi fish, still life, and abstracts. After spending over 30 years in the aerospace industry Meli and her husband moved from Southern California to Pleasant Grove Utah in 2017. Meli is now pursuing new places in Utah and elsewhere to find and paint with soft pastel and oils. Her website is www.melicalkins.com.

Alison Jensen was born in Salt Lake City and has lived here all her life. Her mother, grandmother and great-grandmother were all artists. Alison graduated in Fine Arts at the University of Utah and has studied informally ever since. She has received awards for her work at Murray City and the Utah State Fair and has been a featured artist through Murray City twice. Much of her work depicts the areas around Kamas and Woodland, UT, where she owns a cabin, happily speaking of natures’ creations!
Lehi artist Kenzie has had a passion for animals since she was young. “Every day that I didn't have school, I would be watching either National Geographic, Animal Planet, or Planet Earth. I would always be looking up animal facts, drawing them (the best I could), and giving little presentations about them to my family. I wanted to learn everything I could about the natural world around me, as city life never really intrigued me. My love and curiosity for animals, and the natural world is one of the things that has stuck with me for my entire life. It's one of the things I feel most at home with and brings me the most peace. As I've grown older, I was made more aware of how much wildlife needs our help, and so I started researching conservation organizations, and the missions of each one. With my art, my goal is to bring the beauty of the natural world into people's lives and homes, while also educating on the species and their vital roles in the environment that we share with them. With 10% of the proceeds from my art, I donate that back to conservation groups so they can continue with their amazing work.”

Gael is happy to be building a shed art studio in the back yard of her American Fork home to escape her dogs, cat, gecko, mess and various family members. Her husband of 49 years totally supports that, and is looking forward to a cleaner kitchen table, minus her art accouterments!

Tiffiny is a Utah native, calling Alpine home. She has loved arts and crafts all her life, and her love only grew as she took classes at BYU. Her adult life has been focused on her four children, but with them all in school she has had more time to immerse herself in art, including private instruction from her artist mother-in-law Gael Shults. Tiffiny draws inspiration from her beautiful surroundings. She particularly enjoys painting scenery, animals, children, Christian art, and farm life, especially the Highland longhorns that live close by. She enjoys hosting art shows in her home, collaborating with other artists, doing art nights with friends, and displaying art all over her home.

Scott captures life through the aesthetic eye of an architect. A graduate of the University of Utah (2005), recipient of the esteemed Roger M. Bailey traveling fellow (2006), he honed his style sketching on lunch breaks from work in the Salt Lake area. His artwork, stylistically known as “Urban Sketching”, is as much a journal of his life experience as it is a glimpse into his interests and vision. Utilizing a sketchbook, pencil, pen and watercolor, he dutifully records each scene in a single sitting. This is something he has done for over 25 years.
